“We installed the max power allowable (11 kw) before you have to get special dispensation from the ESB. I should say that at this level you need a 3-phase electricity supply which varies in cost but costs us just under €5k. This setup should now provide all our energy needs for the year and allow us to be close to carbon neutral. We have also singed up with “Arden Energy” who are an energy wholesaler, as they will pay us the wholesale rate for the power we produce, while the ESB will pay nothing! This allows us to balance out the times when you have a surplus with the times when you do not have enough energy”
